Bianca Belair may have established herself as the EST of WWE, but before rising to fame, the Raw Women’s Champion’s life was very different.
Belair joined WWE in 2016, developing in the performance centre and appearing in NXT.
At the start of 2018, the self-proclaimed EST started on an unbeaten run that would last for 367 days, with wins over multiple NXT Superstars including Lacey Evans and Candice LeRae.
Despite competing for the NXT Women’s Championship, it wasn’t until a move to the main roster that Belair tasted Championship success. Less than a year after moving up, Belair won the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble, eliminating Rhea Ripley to get the win.
At WrestleMania 37, Belair defeated Sasha Banks in the main event of Night One, to become Smackdown Women’s Champion.
Later that year at SummerSlam, after 133 days as the Champ was set to defend in a WrestleMania rematch but on the night it was announced Banks could not compete.
Carmella took her place, but was attacked by a returning Becky Lynch, who then challenged and successfully beat Belair in just 26 seconds.
The following year, the pair reignited their feud. This time over the Raw Women’s Championship. On Night One of WrestleMania 38, Belair finally got her revenge on The Man and became the new Raw Women’s Champion.
With wins over Bayley, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka, the fastest, the quickest, is proving to be one of the longest-reigning Women’s Champions in WWE.
However, before signing for WWE, Belair was working in a completely different kind of role, with a day job that required plenty of flavour.
Appearing with Kevin Hart on LOL! Network show Cold As Balls, the EST explained that prior to starting in NXT, she was working for a flavour company, selling impressive tastes to companies.
“So I worked for a flavour company, so everything that you eat has flavour in it. Whether it’s a blueberry muffin, a lot of the time it ain’t the blueberry that your tasting but a blueberry flavour, so I sold the flavours to these big companies”
Asuka Was Not Ready For Bianca Belair At WrestleMania 39
Bianca Belair is on a hot run in WWE, successfully holding the Raw Women’s Championship for over 380 days.
After successfully knocking off Asuka at WrestleMania 39 to retain her Championship, she defeated Dakota Kai on Raw.
Kai’s Damage Ctrl teammate Iyo Sky won a triple threat match on last week’s Raw, to earn a shot at Belair.
This will be the first time the pair have met in a singles match since 2019, when they competed in NXT.
Damage CTRL is still headed up by Bayley, but in recent weeks The Role Model has looked a little enviously at Sky’s success.
Originally Bayley was due to compete in the number one contender’s triple threat match, but Sky and Kai told her that one of them deserved the opportunity instead.
Whilst Sky got the win, Bayley could be seen outside the ring with her arms over her head, almost in disappointment.
Although not yet announced, it looks like Belair v Sky will take place at WrestleMania Backlash on May 6th in Puerto Rico, on a night which will see Cody Rhodes try and avenge the night after WrestleMania beating he took at the hands of Brock Lesnar.
