Bianca Belair has reflected on the powerfully emotional beginning of her main event match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.
At the beginning of Belair’s historic match with Sasha Banks, the two women became visibly emotional as they faced off. The Tampa Bay crowd showered both competitors with cheers and respect as they witnessed the first time two black competitors faced each other in a WrestleMania main event.
Speaking to the WWE Watch Along just minutes after her victory, ‘The EST of WWE’ shared her thoughts on what that moment meant to her.
“That first moment, I felt like we just felt the moment. Hearing the fans for the first time in over a year. Hearing ‘EST’ and ‘Boss,’ we just wanted to stay in that moment because it was an amazing opportunity to main event WrestleMania. We were creating history and we wanted that image to be in the world. Just standing there, that was honestly one of my favorite parts of the match. Just taking my time and soaking it all in.”
“Of course, I wanted to win [the title] and the moment at the end was amazing. That moment, in the beginning, that’s what I’m going to remember for the rest of my life. That feeling, making [fans] feel something. What we do, we do it to put smiles on fan’s faces, and it’s not said enough that the fans put smiles on our faces. In that moment, my heart was so full of love and joy and my mind is blown. I’m blessed.”
Bianca Belair defeated Sasha Banks after delivering the Kiss Of Death for the victory. This marks the first title reign of any kind in the 2021 Royal Rumble winner’s WWE career.
