A new report has suggested that WWE are considering adding Beth Phoenix to the developing feud between her husband Edge and The Miz and Maryse.
On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE Hall of Famer Edge made his return to the red brand. After running down a list of potential opponents, Edge was interrupted by a returning Miz and Maryse. The ensuing promo battle featured insults aplenty and not so thinly veiled references to AEW.
The confrontation led some fans to wonder whether Edge’s wife Beth Phoenix might be returning to action to play a role in the rivalry. It now appears that those fans aren’t alone in their thinking as according to PWInsider, WWE are considering adding Phoenix to the mix.
Perhaps interestingly, speaking in July, Phoenix revealed that she’s medically cleared to wrestle and there had been “little conversations” about her returning to action.
In a move that has only fanned the flames of speculation, Beth Phoenix has also announced that she will be stepping down from her role at the NXT announce desk after WarGames on December 5th.
The former Women’s Champion said that she had made the decision so she could spend more time with her family.
In a statement posted on social media, Phoenix said that she was proud of NXT, adding that she’ll always be part of the brand. She went on to thank many of the people she has worked alongside during her stint with the brand including Mauro Ranallo, Triple H and Shawn Michaels.
The Glamazon retired from in-ring competition in 2012 and was later inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame five years later. Her most recent competitive appearance came in the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble. Phoenix began her commentary career in 2018, before joining the NXT announce team on a permanent basis in May 2019.
