Beth Phoenix recently opened up about the possibility of competing at WrestleMania 39 and the joy of being able to share the ring with her husband Edge in front of their two daughters.
The WWE Hall of Famer made her way back to the company as a surprise alongside her husband at the 2023 Royal Rumble, where she attacked Rhea Ripley during the men’s Rumble match. Phoenix hadn’t been seen since the events of Survivor Series, where Edge lost an I Quit match to Finn Balor in an attempt to save his wife from a con-chair-to at the hands of Ripley. However, Ripley attacked Phoenix anyway, writing the two off television until the end of January.
Speaking on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Phoenix confirmed that she’ll be at WrestleMania, though she claims she doesn’t expect to be competing inside the ring on that occasion. She also made it clear that an opportunity to compete alongside her husband and share these moments with her family is special.
“I’ll be at WrestleMania. I’m sure Adam [Edge] will be factored and featured in. I’ll be there to enjoy. Whatever it is, I can say with all my heart, he and I don’t look too far ahead. We don’t have any plans, ‘this is going to be the retirement.’ We’re just taking it one day at a time.
“When these little opportunities pop up, we’re just like, ‘hell yeah.’ We don’t know what tomorrow brings and our kids are old enough now that they can process mom and dad squeezing this for every last drop. That’s fun. It’s been really fun to do this as a family. They’re in elementary school, so the kids know what our jobs are and they’re watching the match.” (h/t Fightful)
Beth Phoenix And Edge Were Victorious At WWE Elimination Chamber
Following their confrontation with The Judgment Day at the Royal Rumble and another melee on January 30th, Edge and Beth Phoenix appeared together on the February 6th episode of Monday Night Raw. Rhea Ripley wasn’t in attendance that night, but Phoenix said she was determined to get her hands on Mami, challenging her and Finn Balor to a mixed tag team match at Elimination Chamber. Phoenix even hit her signature Glam Slam on Dominik Mysterio after issuing the challenge.
February 18th marked Phoenix’s first match inside a WWE ring since January of 2022, where she and Edge defeated The Miz and Maryse in mixed tag team action at the Royal Rumble.
The Elimination Chamber premium live event saw The Rated R Superstar and his wife victorious once again as Edge pinned Balor. The WWE Hall of Fame couple’s victory delighted the fans in Montreal, QC, giving them joy before their hearts would eventually be broken when Roman Reigns defeated Sami Zayn in the main event of the show.
