WWE legend Kurt Angle

Best wishes are in order for WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle.

Kurt Angle is a bona fide legend of the industry and has made a name for himself thanks to his storied career. His first breakthrough came in the 1996 Olympics when he won a gold medal with a broken neck. The star then forayed into pro wrestling and caught the attention of many, including the legendary Vince McMahon. Angle has since had an illustrious career, winning several World Titles not just in World Wrestling Entertainment but also in TNA. After hanging up his boots in 2019, Angle has talked about his journey in detail and has revealed some interesting stories.

Kurt Angle also revealed that he was previously suffering from painkiller addiction, which later turned into an alcohol problem when he left WWE for TNA in 2006. The Hall of Famer has also let out another interesting facet about his life.

WWE Legend Kurt Angle Is 14 Years Sober

While speaking on Six Feet Under With The Undertaker, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he was 14 years sober.

This came after he went into rehab following four DUIs in five years and stated that he was really struggling with his addiction issues. Angle stated that he would pass out from drinking beer after his shows in TNA and would later wake up with little to no memory of what had happened:

There was just no way I was going to survive in WWE. So when I left I went to TNA, I stopped the painkillers. My doctor was giving me two little pills a day, it’s a dose of morphine. That was keeping me from having any withdrawals. Then I started drinking alcohol, excessively. I was making horrible decisions. What I would do is I would go wrestle afterward I would go to the store and get a 12 pack, go to my hotel drink the 12-pack of beer and pass out. Did it for a year. After that I started getting careless and reckless, out of control.

What I would do is after the show I would get the 12-pack of beer and drink it while driving to the next town. That got me four DUIs in five years. My life spun out of control, I lost my reputation, everything I worked for. I was at the lowest point of my life. I remember calling my wife from jail after my fourth DUI and she said, ‘I can’t do this anymore. You either go to rehab or else I am takinng the kids and leaving.’ I didn’t want to lose my wife and kids so I went to rehab. Best decision ever. I have been clean and sober for 14 years now.”

Best wishes are in order for Kurt Angle after his immense journey, battling addiction and staying sober for 14 years. He is a true inspiration for not just being an immaculate wrestler and a WWE Hall of Famer but also for being an exceptionally strong human being.
