Jim Cornette has heaped praise on one particular female WWE Superstar, claiming that she’s one of the best female promos in the business.
At SummerSlam Bayley returned to WWE television for the first time in more than a year, and she didn’t come alone. After Bianca Belair retained her Raw Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch, Bayley’s music hit to a monster ovation and she made her way to the ring, but she stopped short in the entrance way.
As the star paused, Dakota Kai’s music crashed into the stadium to the shock and amazement of all involved. Kai who was released by the company back in April, was quickly joined by Iyo Sky (Io Shirai) who had been out of action since WrestleMania weekend.
The trio then confronted Bianca Belair who was backed up by Lynch before the segment ended. This meant that Lynch was solidified as a babyface once more after hugging Belair immediately after the match ended, and established Bayley and her new faction.
Speaking on his podcast The Jim Cornette Experience, the legendary manager reflected on the match before praising Bayley for her abilities on the microphone.
“I’m not sure about the big bumps. I’m not sure about a lot of the big bumps that everybody took on this show. But the big bumps that the girls take, the KOD on the floor and teasing the count-out. But they had a good match and were going back and forth, and then Bianca suddenly, and I was surprised at this, suddenly hit the Spanish fly, KOD and boom 1-2-3.
But then they hugged and Becky is a gracious heel, and then all of a sudden the music hits and out comes Bayley, Dakota Kai and the former Io Shirai that is now IYO SKY. But anyway, they come out and they are going to confront Bianca. Help me now, was Bayley a heel when she was last out? [Editors note: she was].
But then Io Shirai, I thought she was a babyface. Dakota Kai lost her mind and she was talking to herself with a split personality? We haven’t seen these ladies in a while, but out they come and they confront Bianca and then Becky, now we know why she was a gracious heel, stepped up with Bianca and was like well if you mess with her then you mess with me too.
So now apparently Becky is a babyface, Big Time Becks. Now she has to be Humble Becks. She was immensely popular a few years ago, then they brought her back as a heel and we were like well why is that? But anyway, Bayley, I said a year ago she is a great promo. She may be one of the best female promos in the business, and after her in-ring career winds down she should be a manager. Bayley is transitioning, you heard it here first, from wrestler to manager.”
On the following episode of Monday Night Raw Lynch cut an emotional promo where she confirmed that she separated her shoulder but finished the match anyway.
