Best Bros Celebrate 100 Days As Asia Dream Tag Team Champions

Baliyan Akki and Mei Suruga, the duo collectively known as the Best Bros, have broken through the 100-day mark as Gatoh Move/ChocoPro’s Asia Dream Tag Team Champions.

The pair are only the ninth team to hold the belts, which were established in 2016, having defeated the Reset tandem of Emi Sakura and Kaori Yoneyama in March of last year.

Best Bros have registered four title defences thus far, one away from tying the all-time record set by Emi Sakura and Masahiro Takanashi, against teams such as TropiCalamari, Egg Tarts and the Pencil Army.

Akki and Suruga have been two of ChocoPro’s breakout stars, with both earning opportunities outside of the promotion as a result of their successes on the mats of Ichigaya Chocolate Square.

Suruga was a part of the AEW Women’s Eliminator tournament, where she exited in the first round against Yuka Sakazaki, before opening her account later in the series as part of the winning trio in a six-person tag team match.

She’s also had success in Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling under the moniker Mei Saint-Michel, as part of Neo Bi-Ishiki-Gun, and will challenge for the company’s tag team titles at the forthcoming Still Incomplete card on April 17th.

Meanwhile, Akki has been making an impression in DDT Pro Wrestling, main eventing two of the recent ‘Chris Brookes Produce’ shows, as well as signing up for English commentary (alongside Brookes) for TJPW’s forthcoming English language series ‘That’s J-PW’.
