Ben Carter has today confirmed that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The news comes after Carter’s feature spot on All Elite Wrestling‘s Late Night Dynamite this past Tuesday, where he won plaudits for his match against Scorpio Sky.
Carter had already featured on AEW’s YouTube show Dark earlier in the evening, collecting his first win in the company against Lee Johnson, and the week prior, in a losing effort against Ricky Starks.
His performances on Dark had generated significant momentum heading into Tuesday’s clash with Sky, with respected wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer suggesting that AEW should sign Carter to a deal.
The announcement from Ben Carter thanked fans for the outpouring of support following his Dynamite bow, as well as expressing disappointment over the work likely to be lost over the coming weeks (whilst in self-isolation).
The Jersey (UK channel islands) native did go on to note that whilst he had experienced a degree of taste loss, a symptom of COVID-19, he was otherwise feeling well.
Carter’s 2020 has been something of a breakout year, with notable performances across prominent US independent promotions such as Game Changer Wrestling, Black Label Pro and Absolute Intense Wrestling.
Carter, who was trained by Seth Rollins, recently told Wrestling Inc that he had Britt Baker to thank for the AEW call up, with Baker having been impressed by his performances at GCW and subsequently passing his details on to Tony Khan.
