Beloved WWE Tag Team Set To Reunite Following WrestleMania 39

While Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have rekindled their friendship and are set to take on The Usos at WrestleMania, there is another fan-favourite pair of ‘frenemies’ who are seemingly set to reunite.

Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano had a hugely successful run together as ‘DIY’ in NXT. The pair quickly won over fans with their friendship and iconic feud with The Revival – now AEW’s FTR – which saw them capture the then-Black and Gold brand’s Tag Team Championships.

However, in May 2017, Ciampa attacked Gargano following the loss of the titles to the Authors of Pain, beginning a vicious feud between the pair. They went on to face each other in an Unsanctioned Match and Street Fight before going on to fight on and off over the NXT Championship.

In 2019, the two reunited and made appearances on the main roster to face off with The Revival and then The Bar – Sheamus and Claudio Castagnoli. They continued to team on and off in NXT until Ciampa was called up to Raw permanently in early 2022.

While Gargano moved to Raw on his return to WWE that August, Ciampa was soon sidelined by injury and had to undergo hip surgery in September.

During a recent interview with Catch Club, Johnny Wrestling noted his former partner’s recovery was progressing well. When asked about a potential DIY reunion, he said it’s a possibility and admitted there were a number of potential dream matches.

“You never know. I think as long as me and Tommaso Ciampa are in the same company, or even in wrestling, in general, we will always be linked together. There was always that idea of what would happen if DIY was on Raw and SmackDown, the amount of dream matches that could kind of that. So and I think we haven’t scratched the surface of that yet. So people would love to see it. It sounds that way.”

Referencing the interview, WRKD Wrestling has reported that DIY will indeed get back together there are talks of it happening following WrestleMania 39.

“Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn aren’t the only ‘Frenemies’ reuniting. There’s talks of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa linking up on the main roster after #WrestleMania with Gargano going as far as to say this during an interview this week. #Smackdown.”
