Behind The Scenes Details On Roman Reigns Unifying WWE Titles

Roman Reigns spears Brock Lesnar

A fresh report has offered a backstage insight into the decision to crown Roman Reigns Universal Undisputed Champion.

On April 3rd at WrestleMania 38 Roman Reigns became Undisputed Universal Champion, unifying WWE’s World Championships for the first time since 2016.

However, just a matter of weeks after the history making bout it was revealed that Reigns would be deceasing his amount of WWE appearances. While this was originally believed to just affect his house show appearances, the Head of the Table has also featured on SmackDown and Raw less and less.

To this end, Reigns has only wrestled on WWE programming once since defeating Lesnar at WrestleMania. In addition he missed the recent Hell In A Cell Premium Live Event and isn’t scheduled to appear at Money In The Bank.

This has led many to question the decision to have Reigns unify the titles if he wouldn’t be appearing on television regularly.

A new report from Wrestle Votes has claimed that the decision to unify the WWE and Universal Titles was made so Reigns could appear on both shows more regularly. Something that simply hasn’t happened.

Meanwhile, it has now been reported that Reigns is only expected to appear on Monday Night Raw once during the summer. At present, Reigns is scheduled to be at the July 25th edition of the show at Madison Square Garden. The episode is the final offering from the red brand before SummerSlam on July 30th.

Despite his absence from Raw, Roman Reigns will be appearing on the June 17th edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Not only that, his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship will be on the line against Riddle. It has since been announced that if Riddle loses, he won’t be able to challenge for the title again while Reigns is champion.
