Becky Lynch Set For Huge Match At SummerSlam

A new report has suggested that Big Time Becky Lynch, could be heading for another big time singles match at SummerSlam.

At WWE Hell In A Cell, Becky Lynch, Asuka and Bianca Belair squared off for the Raw Women’s Championship. While the show will always be remembered Cody Rhodes’ heroic efforts in the main event, the Triple Threat Match which opened proceedings was hailed by many as ‘match of the night.’

In a fast and furious encounter, each woman looked to have victory in their grasp only to fall at the final hurdle. After 20 breathless minutes, it was the champion, Bianca Belair who prevailed, capitalising on a Manhandle Slam delivered by Becky Lynch on Asuka.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer hinted that another showdown between Big Time Becks and the EST of WWE could be on the way at SummerSlam.

“I would figure that’s SummerSlam [Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair]. It was very clear that they were holding that match off for a while. I don’t think they’re going to wait for Mania because they don’t have the depth, probably, to wait till Mania. But, I figure they’ll wait to SummerSlam for that and that’s why they didn’t do it here.”

Meltzer also revealed that Lynch wasn’t originally meant to feature in the match at Hell In A Cell, but plans changed.

“Really, they didn’t even want Becky in the match here. It was just one of those things where, and I was a little bit surprised, because I figured, eh, just go with a singles match with Asuka, but for whatever reason, they decided instead to go with a three way.”

The rivalry between Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair began at SummerSlam 2021, where Lynch returned to action and defeated then SmackDown Women’s Champion Belair in 26 seconds.

In the months that followed the feud continued as Belair climbed her way back into championship contention. At WrestleMania 38, Belair finally got the better of her rival to claim the Raw Women’s Title.
