Becky Lynch has discussed her time in WWE and how it relates to the Vince McMahon accusations.
On January 25th, Vince McMahon was accused of sex trafficking and sexual assault by former WWE employee Janel Grant. With many unnamed executives and an unnamed top talent also implicated in the allegations, the disturbing lawsuit highlights a toxic culture within the company.
Speaking to Alex McCarthy at Elimination Chamber, Lynch was asked about the current environment in light of the allegations. The former Women’s Champion responded that the allegations are horrible and that she has always felt supported on an individual level by WWE:
“I’ve been fortunate in my career that I’ve always felt supported by the company. These allegations are horrible. It’s hard to reconcile, as a talent and as a woman, but my experience in WWE has only ever been amazing. Yes, in the beginning, there were some restrictions put on things. We couldn’t punch, we had to hair pull, there were weird things there. Being able to push us forward, push women forward, I’m very grateful for that and the opportunity to even have my family. This company…some of these things are hard to reconcile,”
In a new interview in March 2024, Becky Lynch has further elaborated on her feelings about the Vince McMahon allegations.
Becky Lynch Discusses Scrapped Dream Match
After achieving victory inside the Elimination Chamber in what was her debut inside the structure, Lynch has secured her spot at WrestleMania, where she will challenge Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship. One of the top stars in the women’s division, Lynch has gone one-on-one with some of the biggest stars in women’s wrestling and will add one more name to that list when she faces Ripley in Philadelphia.
However, there was one Superstar who never did face Lynch in a singles match despite many fans clamouring for it. Becky Lynch would go on to explain why the WWE dream match never came to be.
H/t to Fightful.
