At SummerSlam, Becky Lynch took on Bianca Belair as she attempted to win back the Raw Women’s Championship. Lynch was famously defeated for the title at WrestleMania 38, while the bout at the summer spectacular put an end to a rivalry that had lasted a full year.
During the match at SummerSlam Lynch suffered a serious shoulder injury but powered through the rest of the bout as planned. Although the issue didn’t require surgery, the Irish star was out of action for four months. Lynch returned to television the night before Survivor Series, leading ‘Team Bianca’ to victory inside WarGames just 24-hours later. The Man earned the win for her squad by hitting a huge Leg Drop from the top of the cage onto IYO SKY and Dakota Kai who were positioned on a table below.
Since then Lynch has been wrapped up in a rivalry with Bayley and Damage CTRL who are credited in storyline as putting her out of action.
Becky Lynch Returns To The Ring On Raw
It has now been announced that Becky Lynch will be back in action on the December 19th episode of Raw where she’ll take on Bayley. The match will only be Lynch’s second since returning to WWE and first singles match since being defeated by Belair back in July.
Interestingly, Lynch recently revealed that her shoulder still wasn’t 100% despite wrestling at Survivor Series.
“It felt amazing to be out in front of the crowd again and how electric that was, in such a wild capacity as WarGames. That’s a match that I’ve never done before and it’s a very daunting match. You’ve got two rings, you’ve got a giant cage and anything goes.
Truth be told, my shoulder still isn’t feeling right. So to say I was nervous is probably a bit of an understatement. But once you get out there, once you get in front of the crowd and you feel that energy, then you forget everything else. There’s not another feeling like it,”
At present the only other match announced for the show is the Winner Take All Ladder Match between The Miz and Dexter Lumis.
