Becky Lynch Gives Her Thoughts On Mercedes Mone’s Rumoured AEW Salary

Becky Lynch Discusses Mercedes Mone's AEW Contract

Becky Lynch wants to see the Women’s Evolution represented in more ways than one.

After months of speculation, Mercedes Mone was officially announced as a member of the AEW roster at the Big Business special in The CEO’s hometown of Boston. With Mone having a considerable amount of star power not only from her work in WWE but also from being a star outside of the wrestling industry, it was widely believed that signing Mone to AEW came at a considerable cost.

A couple of days after the debut, Dave Meltzer published in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Mercedes Mone could now be the highest paid woman in all of professional wrestling. Lynch, who is currently promoting her new autobiography, is very familiar with the former Sasha Banks and debuted on the same roster with Banks and Charlotte Flair after being introduced by Stephanie McMahon as part of the Women’s Revolution angle.

All 3 would play a crucial part in making women’s wrestling taken more seriously, including an excellent triple threat match at WrestleMania 32. While speaking with the Orlando Sentinel, Lynch commented on Mone’s new AEW contract and stated that it is important for the female stars to be presented as equals to the male stars financially as well as their placement on the card:

“I think that’s an important part, getting paid equally for the equal work and the equal position we are at right now. Women’s evolutions and revolutions are fine and well, but making sure that they equate to contracts and financial reward for these things, when we are doing equal work, is hugely important,”
