Before moving to WWE’s main roster full-time in 2015, Becky Lynch was one of the top stars in NXT. However, her time on the black and gold brand didn’t end as well as it could have.
The main event of the August 18th, 2015 edition of NXT, saw Lynch taking part in a Fatal Four Way match against Emma, Charlotte Flair, and Dana Brooke. Unfortunately, the ending of the bout went wrong.
Becky Lynch most upset by the botched ending
After Emma used a Crossbody into the corner, she pinned Lynch for the win. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter at the time, this wasn’t supposed to be the finish of the match as The Man was supposed to kick out at two.
The referee for the match counted to three regardless as Lynch didn’t kick out in time, this led to a lot of confusion as the other women in the match continued their planned spots with Flair spearing Emma and counting to three herself, possibly signifying that was the planned ending.
Even though there was reportedly no heat on any of the participants in the match, the women were said to be “very upset” backstage, particularly Becky Lynch.
Despite the less-than-ideal end to her time in the NXT Women’s Division, on the main roster, Big Time Becks has become on of the top stars in WWE.
Among her accolades, Lynch is a four-time SmackDown and two-time Raw Women’s Champion. Not only that, but she made history by winning the first-ever women’s main event at WrestleMania 35, defeating Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey to capture both championships.
More recently, Lynch has been embroiled in a feud with Bayley and her Damage CTRL faction. The rivalry is set to culminate in a Steel Cage match between Lynch and Bayley on the special 30th Anniversary edition of Raw on January 23rd.
