2022 has been a true rollercoaster for Becky Lynch. She began the year flying high but missed out on the first WWE Premium Live Event held in Britain in three decades, before making a triumphant return to the ring.
Lynch enjoyed numerous battles with Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair including memorable bouts at WrestleMania 38 and SummerSlam. It was at the latter that she sustained a shoulder injury that kept her out of action for almost four months. This meant watching from home as Clash At The Castle was held in Cardiff, Wales. Although the United Kingdom isn’t quite home territory for the proud Irishwoman, she would have been greeted as a returning hero.
Becky Lynch Says Thank You
Speaking during a Q&A with Matthew Connell for Alternative Sport, Lynch reflected on her year and was asked if she had a message for WWE fans around the world. The Man was quick to pay tribute to her supporters and thanked them for welcoming her back with open arms after her injury.
“I think 2022 was full of ups and downs. The downs obviously being taken out for the first time with an injury for a prolonged period of time. That did have an effect on my mentality. Coming back there was so much apprehension, and the fans greeted me with such open arms and reminded me that there’s nothing like this. That putting your body on the line for their entertainment is such a privilege and it is so worth it. So a big giant thank you to the fans for letting me entertain them and I can’t wait to do so much more in 2023.”
At Survivor Series Becky Lynch returned to action to team with Bianca Belair, Mia Yim, Asuka and Alexa Bliss to defeat Damage CTRL, Rhea Ripley and Nikki Cross. It was The Man who scored the win after jumping from the top of the cage, driving Dakota Kai and IYO SKY through a table.
