Becky Lynch has opened up about receiving some candid advice from WWE icon John Cena that helped her find herself and transformed her career.
Becky Lynch has been a the top of the women’s division in WWE for several years now, breaking new ground when she won the first all-female WrestleMania main event at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. But that has not always been the case in Lynch’s WWE career.
As part of the Four Horsewomen, Becky Lynch had to fight to break out of the shadow of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Bayley but as The Man emerged in the second half of 2018, the Irish star’s career took off to new heights.
In a new video WWE has released to mark #CenaMonth – the month celebrating John Cena’s twenty-year anniversary in WWE – Big Time Becks has discussed the advice Cena gave her that helped change her career:
“One thing that John is is extremely honest. When I was struggling before, when I couldn’t find myself, he said, ‘Well, I don’t know who you are.’ And because of that, it made me look at myself and examine who I was so that I could develop something that was recognizable to the audience.”
“I think one thing that is advice that he has given me is always be honest, and I think that’s with yourself, with the people you’re doing business with, and with the audience. Once I listened to that and the other and I put everything together, it just…It worked.”
