WWE had heavily advertised a Cage Match between Becky Lynch and Bayley but the bout never happened.
Lynch and the leader of Damage CTRL have been at war for months and this lead to another confrontation on January 16th. On Raw, Lynch challenged her rival to a Cage Match seemingly in an effort to settle their differences once and for all.
However, come the big night, the match was over before it even started. Bayley, IYO SKY, and Dakota Kai attacked the Irish star before she even made it into the ring. The trio then threw Lynch into the ring and locked the door as officials franticly tried to get in to end the assault.
By the time the short segment ended, Lynch was laid out and Damage CTRL stood tall, and fans were not happy.
Fans Upset As Becky Lynch Vs. Bayley Pulled From Raw
It has now been reported that the angle that played out on television wasn’t what was planned. The report from Fightful Select notes that “an audible was called” after the two women had their time cut significantly. Fightful add that the match and entrances were meant to get two segments but after The Bloodline’s trial with Sami Zayn went long, multiple segments needed to be trimmed.
The match between Becky Lynch and Bayley was the most affected and saw the women faced with a problem. They could either have a Cage Match lasting just a couple of minutes or work an angle, they chose the latter.
In a post on social media, Bayley responded to fans who were upset with her beatdown of Lynch in typically heelish fashion.

In the opening segment of the show, Sami Zayn was given a stay of proverbial execution by Roman Reigns but he will face a “final test” at the Royal Rumble. Elsewhere, The Undertaker passed the torch to Bray Wyatt.
