Bayley Teases WWE Return Ahead Of SmackDown

Bayley has teased a return to WWE programming ahead of tonight’s episode of SmackDown, which would mark her first appearance in nine months.

Tonight’s (15 April) broadcast of WWE SmackDown is due to take place from the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Currently announced for the card is Drew McIntyre facing Sami Zayn in a rematch from last Friday’s SmackDown and Jinder Mahal challenging Ricochet for the Intercontinental Championship.

It’s now being rumoured that Bayley could be returning to the fold after she posted a cryptic tweet. ‘The Role Model’ has been out of action since suffering a torn ACL while training for her scheduled Money In The Bank outing vs. Bianca Belair. The injury was expected to keep her out of action for nine months, a timeframe that is due up this month.

The tweet, posted on Friday evening, were lyrics from the Local Natives song Someday Now.

Bayley last appeared on the 2 July 2021 episode of SmackDown, where she challenged Bianca Belair to an I Quit match. She had previously lost to Bianca in a Hell In A Cell match at the titular pay-per-view the month prior, though she’s not wrestled since the 25 June SmackDown episode, teaming with Seth Rollins as they defeated Bianca and Cesaro.

Signing with WWE in December 2012, Bayley has risen to become one of WWE’s most polarising female Superstars as one of WWE’s Four Horsewomen. She currently has six title reigns under her belt, including one each with the Raw and NXT Women’s Championships, and two with the SmackDown Women’s and Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Bayley, alongside former NXT rival Asuka, was recently spotted in Dallas ahead of WrestleMania 38, though she didn’t appear at the event itself. Her torn ACL marks Bayley’s first time out on the injured shelf for a prolonged period of time.
