A 54-year-old WWE legend admittedly cried after Bayley’s in-ring actions.
There have been many instances where current WWE Superstars have paid homage to and paid tribute to wrestling legends, in more ways than one. While some have used their catchphrases or wear merchandise, the one that gets the most traction is when they do the legend’s notable move or finisher. For Bayley, she was able to pay tribute to Victoria right in front of the legend.
On SmackDown’s January 17, 2025, episode, Bayley faced Tiffany Stratton for the Women’s Championship at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. Towards the end of the match, Bayley performed one of Victoria’s finishers, the Spiderweb, while the WWE legend was in the audience at the time. As it turns out, the tribute was enough to move the wrestling legend to tears.
Bayley’s Homage To Victoria Made the WWE Legend Cry
While on WrestlingNewsCo, Victoria shared that during the San Diego SmackDown show, Bayley approached her before the title match and asked if she could use the Spiderweb. The WWE legend agreed and noted that The Role Model pointed at her before doing the move.
When I went to San Diego, the arena, Bayley, she said, ‘Hey, can I do the Spiderweb, the spinning sidewalk slam?” And I go, ‘Oh, please, please.’ And you know, in overseas, they don’t get commercials. Okay, so in the States, we get commercials. She came like this. She went right before the move, she went like this and pointed at me and did the move.”
The 54-year-old added that she started crying after witnessing the move, and during the commercials, the superstar hugged Victoria to express her disbelief that the legend watched her match.
I was like, I started crying. And then during the break, she came out to give me a hug. She goes, ‘I can’t believe that you’re watching one of my matches.’ And I was like, ‘No, I can’t believe you’re actually doing a move and paying homage to me.’ You know what I mean? It’s, wow.”
