At last year’s SummerSlam, Bayley made her long-awaited return to WWE and she brought some friends along with her.
Bianca Belair had just defended the Raw Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch when the Role Model’s music hit. The two shocked Superstars looked on as Bayley brought Dakota Kai and IYO SKY along with her.
The trio, known as Damage CTRL proceeded to take Lynch out of action before targeting all the gold. Bayley went after Belair and the Raw women’s title, while Kai and SKY captured the Women’s Tag Team Championships.
Bayley was a guest on Ariel Helwani Meets: on the BT Sport YouTube page. During the interview, she spoke about her mission to get a faction of women together and what she wanted them to be known as before legalities made her pick another team name.
“That is something that I’ve thought about for a couple years before it actually happened. I know Dakota has talked about this in her interviews in the past. It had a different group of people as the time went on.
I had a few different ideas. We threw out a million different names. Creative came back with a million different names too and we just couldn’t get on the same page. Then you have to also go through legal and all this stuff.
My first original one, I wanted it to be called. ‘The Now’. To me, it was that I didn’t care about the championships I won in the past, I don’t care about what happens next, like these girls right here and what we’re about to do, the present is all that matters.
The Now was my first idea, but there’s a show called The Now or something like that. You know, it’s just legal stuff.
Bayley And Damage CTRL Made WWE History
As the first women’s Grand Slam and Triple Crown Champion the Role Model knows a thing or two about making history and at Survivor Series WarGames she continued to do so. Alongside Kai and SKY, she performed in the first-ever WarGames match to be held on the main roster.
Inside the ominous structure, the team of Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, and Mia Yim defeated Damage CTRL, Rhea Ripley, and Nikki Cross.
