Though the Boss hasn’t been seen in WWE since May, Bayley made sure Sasha Banks’ presence was felt on Raw in a special Easter egg.
On May 16th, Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of Monday Night Raw after creative disputes over the main event of the show. The two were soon stripped of their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship and suspended without pay, and despite reports that they could be on their way back to the company under Triple H’s new regime, neither woman has been seen in WWE since that time.
Bayley, on the other hand, has made quite the splash on Raw since returning from injury at SummerSlam with Dakota Kai and IYO SKY in tow. The trio has been dominant on the red brand, with Dakota and IYO earning their way to the finals of a tournament to at long last crown a new set of WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
On the latest episode of Raw, the self-proclaimed Role Model came face to face with WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, who teased that she could come out of retirement if she were provoked enough. Though the two didn’t end up coming to blows, Stratus once again confronted Bayley later in the show when Bayley was giving fellow Toronto native Aliyah some trouble backstage.
The confrontation led to a match between Aliyah and Bayley, and though Aliyah put up a good fight, she was no match for the Role Model. During the match, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion put Aliyah in the corner and executed double knees on her, similar to a move her former partner and rival Sasha Banks used to do. When sharing a clip of the move on her Instagram page, Bayley put it side by side with their infamous match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn that saw Bayley win the NXT Women’s Championship in 2015.
The Brooklyn match took place exactly seven years ago on August 22nd, 2015, and the Instagram caption alluded to the date.

Elsewhere on the August 22nd episode of Monday Night Raw, Johnny Gargano made his return to WWE after nine months away from the company. The former leader of The Way last appeared in WWE in early December, where he said a tearful goodbye to the NXT audience before being attacked by Grayson Waller. After making his return on Raw, Gargano was confronted by his former ally Theory, and when invited to do their signature high five, Gargano instead superkicked Theory in the face.
Gargano’s wife Candice LeRae posted a heartwarming image of their son reacting to his father’s WWE return.
