Bayley has called for the retired WWE pay-per-view Evolution to make a comeback.
Back in 2018, the all-women’s PPV debuted and was very well-received by the fans, in particular the Last Woman Standing match between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. The WWE Women’s Champion was also in action at the event as she teamed with Sasha Banks and Natalya to defeat The Riott Squad.
Despite the show being praised and nearly 11,000 fans in attendance, the show never returned and has been an event fans have been frequently asking to see revived, a sentiment Bayley agrees with.
Appearing on Cody Rhodes’ talk show What Do You Wanna Talk About? The Women’s Champion was asked if she would like to see Evolution make a comeback, to which Bayley stated that now would be a great time as the division has evolved in the last 6 years where there is less emphasis on the past and more on the future:
“Yes. Why not? Like we were just saying, there’s so many women. So the thing about the first one was we had so many girls from NXT for one, which they got to showcase on a bigger stage. But they had so many women from the past. It’s kind of like the first few [women’s Royal] Rumbles, a lot of women from the past because we didn’t have enough women to fill up these matches. But like, now we do. And I think it would be so cool to give everybody on Raw and everybody on SmackDown a part of that show, Evolution 2.”
Continuing, Bayley also added that outside talent could also be featured on the show, citing the recent appearances by TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace:
“You can bring girls in from NXT. You can bring girls in — we just saw Jordynne Grace on NXT. TNA girls, whatever that connection is there, we can bring different girls in. You can bring someone in from the past, like if they’re up for it, to do a little something. But we have such a stacked roster right now where it’s like, we can hold down a show on our own, another PLE on our own.
And it’s been so many years where it’s not like it’s something we have to do every year where we’re kind of like, ‘All right. We’ve seen it enough times,’ but I think it’s time because it is a different era compared to back then.”
Bayley Assesses The Women’s Division In 2024
While the company has made a lot of progression in the 8 years since the “Women’s Evolution” began with Women’s Money in the Bank matches, Royal Rumbles and PLE main events becoming a regularity, the Women’s Champion would still like to see more opportunities presented to the division as a whole. Speaking in the same interview, Bayley stated what major change she would like to see take place in the women’s division.
