Despite being in different wrestling companies Bayley and Mercedes Mone remain the best of friends.
The two trailblazers came up through the ranks together before changing the industry alongside Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair as part of the Four Horsewomen of NXT. Their match for the NXT Women’s Championship at 2015’s NXT TakeOver: New York revolutionised women’s wrestling and changed how the art form was viewed in the company.
On the main roster, the duo went on to become Grand Slam Champions and achieve multiple successes while being both friends and foes on screen were always besties behind the scenes.
Their friendship has been documented several times in documentaries and video packages but it was put to the test when Mone left WWE and headed to All Elite Wrestling. However, the fact they now ply their trade in different companies they still remain close comrades.
What did Bayley say about Mercedes Mone?
In an interview with Instinct Culture Bayley when asked about Mone said although she misses her dear friend, she is more than happy to see her thrive:
“I am so excited to see her take this to next level. As much as I miss having her here. Wrestling, to me, still feels weird without her, but it’s like I have her in a different way where I can tell her what’s going on here and what I need help with, and what I’m trying to do to make it better over here. The same goes for her. It’s kind of nice we’re able to help and grow in two different companies and separately. In a way, it’s kind of better. I’m so proud of her for taking that leap and taking the chance on herself. She has so much to offer the world. There is so much more that she’s going to be able to do. I’m really excited to watch. Now, I just get to be a fan. Can’t be her tag partner anymore, but now I get to be a fan.” H/t Fightful.
In a recent story, Bayley detailed the incredible commitment to the Damage CTRL story in the lead up to WrestleMania 40.
