After suffering a serious injury and being sidelined for nearly a year, Odyssey Jones returned to WWE NXT on Tuesday night. Jones’ injury would be ruptured patellar tendon that would see him out from January of this year all the way until now in late October.
Jones already made his return at a house show, but the November 1, 2022 edition of NXT would be his comeback to television — the first time since he would make an appearance since December 28, 2021.
Bayley Congratulates Odyssey Jones
In his return, Odyssey Jones would square off against Javier Bernal, taking him out quickly after he landed a Black Hole Slam to get the victory.
Recently coming back from an injury himself, Grand Slam Champion Bayley took to Twitter to congratulate Jones for making his comeback to NXT: “Happy for you dude! Been amazing to watch your rehab journey to now. Congrats.”
Last week, Jones would make his first official appearance since his injury, driving a car with multiple women right outside of the WWE Performance Center, with Edris Enofe and Malik Blade eventually getting in. Before getting hurt, Jones’ stardom was on the rise in NXT, becoming one of the fresh stars in the 2.0 brand.
In the 2021 NXT Breakout Tournament, Jones would make it all the way to the finals, ultimately losing to Carmelo Hayes. Other notable victories, Jones took out Andre Chase on NXT, and also defeated WWE Superstar Austin Theory during the August 12, 2021 edition of Main Event.
With Bayley’s ACL tear, it would leave her out of action for more than a year, lasting from July 2021 all the way to August 2022. Similar to Jones, Bayley’s absence would be significant, and since then, has came back with a vengeance and returned to exactly where she was before she left the company — feuding with current WWE Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair.
