Bayley Believes She Will Cross Paths With Mercedes Mone Again: “We’ll Always Be Destined For One More Match”

Bayley Believes She Will Cross Paths With Mercedes Mone Again:

Bayley knows that her friendship/rivalry with Mercedes Mone [Sasha Banks] will never be over.

The two former Women’s Champions have a historic rivalry in WWE that stretches all the way back to 2013 in the early days of NXT. In 2015, Banks and Bayley would face off at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn in what is still regarded as one of the greatest women’s wrestling matches of all time.

When The Boss and The Hugger made their way to the main roster, each would find their own individual successes by winning the Women’s Championship. Reuniting in 2019, The Boss and Hug Connection would form and the duo would become the inaugural Women’s Tag Team Champions following the reintroduction of the titles.

The following year during the pandemic, Banks and Bayley turned heel and would capture every Women’s Championship across both brands. Fans praised their work and many believed that they were the MVPs of the no-fans era. The duo would eventually split and revisit their rivalry, and feud for the rest of 2020 and early 2021, once again becoming enemies.

While being interviewed by Sports Illustrated, Bayley spoke about her relationship with Banks and stated that their rivalry will never end and there will always be another match down the road:

“We’ll always be destined for one more match. Our next match will never be our last. We’re ‘The Brooklyn Girls’. We’re going to live on forever because of that match, and it’s something we can carry on forever.”

When the former Women’s Champions faced off against each other, the matches were always high quality. The Damage CTRL member commented on this, stating that her chemistry with Banks is like no other:

“I don’t have chemistry in the ring with anyone else like I do with her. No one teaches me like her. She’s my [Michael] Jordan.”

The two Horsewomen have not been in the same company for over 18 months following Sasha Banks and Naomi’s shock exit from WWE during a live broadcast of Raw. Despite this, they have remained close and were recently spotted together at the TNA Hard to Kill pay-per-view.

Closing out her thoughts on Banks, Bayley joked that their rivalry will extend into old age when they are playing shuffleboard in Florida:

“I’ll beat her at that every time. I can beat her at most games like that. But when it comes to wrestling, it’s 50-50.”

Bayley Outlines Goals For 2024

In a year where many contracts are set to expire, the SmackDown star recently confirmed that she would be remaining with WWE for the foreseeable future. While having a decorated career in her own right, the former Women’s Champion still wants to achieve more such as win the Royal Rumble and have a singles match at WrestleMania. In a separate interview, Bayley gave an insight into her future WWE goals.
