Though officially retired, Batista has been spotted training with not only a current WWE Superstar, but a former UFC fighter as well!
As one of the top WWE Superstars of the Ruthless Aggression Era, Batista garnered a multitude of both World and Tag Team Championship reigns. He stepped away from the ring in 2010 and, bar brief returns in 2014 and 2019, ‘The Animal’ has maintained a steady career in Hollywood.
To help keep up this Herculean look outside of the squared circle, Batista has been seen working out alongside MVP and Matt Arroyo, an ex-UFC fighter. MVP posted a photo of the trio to his Instagram account, showing them working out at Gracie Tampa South Martial Arts:
“I had a great time training with Professor Matt and Dave this evening! Good technique and quality rounds! I needed that! #bjj #brazilianjiujitsu #grapplers #bjjlife #legitaf”
Batista hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania 35, where he lost to Triple H in a No Holds Barred match. He hasn’t wrestled regularly since 2014, however, being involved in rivalries opposite The Shield and Alberto Del Rio. After retiring, Batista was penned for a WWE Hall of Fame induction, but this was postponed due to the pandemic.
The two-time Royal Rumble winner is now a major hit in Hollywood; he’s most known for playing Drax The Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, volume three of which is due for release in May 2023. Outside of Marvel-related films, he’s starred in Dune, Blade Runner 2049, and The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption.
He most recently starred in Thor: Love and Thunder, which was released on 8 July. There, Batista rekindled his role as Drax once more.
