Baron Corbin Claims So-Called Fans Who Become WWE Stars Have “Poisoned” Wrestling

Happy Corbin Baron Corbin

Since returning to Monday Night raw on October 17th, Baron Corbin has been reborn. As well as moving away from his ‘Happy Corbin’ persona, the star also joined forces with WWE Hall of Famer John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield.

Rejuvenated as the self-styled Modern-Day Wrestling God, Corbin has won four of his five matches since, only being defeated by Drew McIntyre. Alongside JBL, Corbin hasn’t been short on things to say, calling out Braun Strowman for his recent controversial tweets. Not that Corbin stopped here.

Baron Corbin Blasts Fellow Stars

During an appearance on After The Bell with Corey Graves, Corbin turned his attention to a number of his fellow WWE Superstars. The former King of the Ring suggested that wrestlers who only ever dreamed of working for WWE have ruined the industry. Corbin stated that being the biggest fan is irrelevant, it’s all about who is the best competitor.

“More competition, higher level athletes — I want to see the 1%,” said Corbin.

“I don’t want to see these so-called fans who get in the business, get on television, and get in our rings. I think that has poisoned what we do. When you started letting fans in our ring, it poisoned the sanctity of what we do. I mean, when you talk about a Johnny Gargano, you talk about a Kevin Owens, all these guys, all they ever wanted to do since day one was be a WWE Superstar because they’re the biggest fans in the world. It’s not about who’s the biggest fan, it’s about who’s the best competitor.”

Speaking elsewhere, Baron Corbin also claimed that there are currently a “bunch of idiots” in the WWE locker room, aide from AJ Styles, Roman Reigns and Randy Orton who he praised as being very smart. He added that they “Get the job done, and they’re having success in and out of wrestling.”
