Braun Strowman recently drew the ire of wrestling fans, as well as some of his co-workers, after taking shots at smaller ‘flippy’ wrestlers.
Following his victory over Omos at this month’s Crown Jewel event, Braun Strowman took to Twitter to brag about his performance and troll online fans. In a now deleted tweet, ‘The Monster of all Monsters’ claimed that “no one cares about all these floppy floppers”.
The unnecessary dig at the smaller, more athletic wrestlers unsurprisingly drew some backstage heat on Strowman, with one of his WWE colleagues recently calling Braun out for his comments.
Baron Corbin Reacts To Braun Strowman Controversy
Baron Corbin, along with JBL, was a guest on the most recent edition of Corey Graves’ ‘After The Bell’ podcast and was asked about Strowman’s divisive tweet.
The ‘Modern Day Wrestling God’ pointed to the likes of Rey Mysterio, who have made a huge impact on the wrestling industry despite their smaller stature:
“If you’re gonna go out there and you’re gonna bash little guys, look, I have some respect for guys like Rey Mysterio who have done unbelievable things at his size and his stature and he is iconic and there will be a lot of people that will come along in the future that will get compared to him and wanna be him but there will never be another Rey Mysterio.”
Corbin also took exception to Strowman immediately backing down from his comments after receiving backlash from fans online and urged him to stand by his words:
“If you’re gonna go out on social media and say those things and the minute people start firing back at you, you back down or you cower away or you try to say it was a joke, that’s when I get irritated. Stand behind what you say, be a man and back it up”
