Baron Corbin has admitted that at first, he was somewhat apprehensive over forming an alliance on WWE TV.
Following his run in NXT that revitalised his career and made him a fan favourite, Corbin was called back up to the main roster in the 2024 Draft. However, while the former United States Champion was sent to SmackDown, his NXT Tag Team partner Bron Breakker was sent to Raw, splitting up The Wolf Dogs indefinitely.
Back on the main roster, Corbin has partnered up with Apollo Crews for multiple matches, which the former NXT Tag Team Champion was not sure about at first.
Speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Corbin admitted that there were concerns that the new alliance would be compared to his previous partnership with Breakker:
“To me, it was wild (starting partnership with Apollo Crews). I showed up in Scotland (for SmackDown) and they told me I would run out and save Apollo that night. When they told me we were going to be a tag team, I was a little bit standoffish, to be honest. Coming from the Wolfdogs with Bron Breakker. That was so good and fun.
I was worried this team wouldn’t live up to that, but I think people are excited and having fun with that tag team. The fans are getting this new version of me and a fresh version of Apollo. It has been fun. I love Apollo. I think he is one of the best competitors. I look forward to seeing where the team goes.”
Baron Corbin Remembers Terrible WWE Rivalry
While Corbin was able to thrive upon his return to NXT, his rivalry with Roman Reigns on SmackDown back in 2020 is not one that he looks back upon as fondly. Addressing one segment in particular, the WWE star admitted the Reigns angle still haunted him.
