Earlier this week, multiple reports circulated of All Elite Wrestling and former Ring of Honor World Champion Bandido agreeing on a deal, and this coming just a week after AEW offered “Magnifico II” a contract after his ROH World Championship loss against Chris Jericho on Dynamite.
Despite the reports, however, it’s looking like the two sides have not agreed on a contract, with one news outlet retracting a confirmation report of Bandido’s signing. F4WOnline and Fightful Select reported that everything was a done deal, but the former would go on to retract, with Dave Meltzer receiving information from his sources that Bandido and AEW haven’t yet made anything official.
In a recent interview with Mas Lucha, Bandido himself also stated that he hadn’t signed with AEW, and not just that, but he also said that he’s received an offer from WWE. However, the good news for AEW is that Bandido hinted that a deal with the company could be close, adding that he is favoring AEW over WWE. He also went on to say that both Tony Khan and Chris Jericho have been campaigning for him to join All Elite Wrestling.
“Tony Khan told me that he didn’t [just] want me on the roster, but that he needed me there.”
While Bandido is deciding on whether he wants to sign with AEW or WWE, with All Elite Wrestling being in first place right now for his services, fans can see “Magnifico II” at the Mexican Lucha Libre AAA promotion, which is a partner of AEW.
At TripleMania XXX: Mexico City, Bandido will be participating in a three-way trios match with Laredo Kid and Psycho Clown as they take on Johnny Caballero, Sam Adonis and Brian Cage, with Nuevo Generacion Dinamitas also taking a corner of the squared circle. The winners take home the Dinamitas’ AAA World Trios Championship.
