Bad Bunny has recalled his WWE in-ring debut and who came up with the most memorable spot in the match.
In what was a dream come true for the lifelong pro wrestling fan, the music megastar teamed up with Damian Priest to take on The Miz and John Morrison at WrestleMania 37. A major part of the match itself as opposed to just executing a couple of spots, many were impressed with Bunny’s performance throughout, which has since been regarded as one of the best celebrity matches in pro wrestling history.
In the closing moments of the match, Bunny first hit a cross body onto Miz and Morrison on the outside. Moments later, the singer hit a Canadian Destroyer onto Morrison, leaving Priest and Miz stunned at what just happened.
While appearing as a guest on Hot Ones, Bunny stated the Destroyer was Morrison’s idea:
“That was John Morrison’s idea. Like, ‘You should do the Canadian Destroyer and we call it the Bunny Destroyer.’ We did it, we practiced it. I really learned a lot about him, about Damian Priest, The Miz, and all the guys that was coaching me.”
Bad Bunny Recalls Painful Return To The Ring
Two years on from his standout performance, the Grammy Award-winning musician made his return to the ring, this time in a singles match against Damian Priest at Backlash in Puerto Rico. Competing in a street fight, Bunny’s return match was a lot more physical than his debut at Mania. Speaking in the same interview, Bad Bunny revealed which part of the match hurt the most.
H/t to Fightful.
