WWE is gearing up for its inaugural two-night SummerSlam PLE in August. After a massively successful WrestleMania 41 Season, Triple H and his teams are now mapping out plans for the next several months, and a big shakeup is expected.
World Wrestling Entertainment’s 38th annual SummerSlam will take place on August 2-3 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The event, hosted by rapper Cardi B, will be John Cena’s final SummerSlam show.
WWE usually enters SummerSlam Season with fresh rosters due to the WWE Draft, held after ‘Mania except for a few recent years. The Draft was held in April the past two years, but a new report indicates the popular spectacle is being pushed back a few months.
WWE Draft Rumored For After SummerSlam PLE
Officials have been discussing potential ideas for the next few months, and a post-SummerSlam Draft is being considered, according to Bodyslam’s Cory Hays. This is interesting as word from mid-May was that the Draft could be held before The Biggest Party of the Summer, with a report from earlier this month noting that officials were still trying to decide on the date and location.
SummerSlam may feature the current rosters, but that would save the updated main roster lineups for the RAW and SmackDown season premiere episodes. This latest report notes that one likely reason for holding the WWE Draft after SummerSlam is that it would serve as a tie-in to the season premieres, which air in September.
The 2024-25 RAW season premiere aired on September 9 from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with a commercial-free first hour. SmackDown aired its 2024-25 season premiere on September 13 of last year in Seattle, also featuring the blue brand’s 25th Anniversary celebration and its return to the USA Network.
