With Brock Lesnar in his rear view mirror, at least for now, a new report has offered an insight who is next in line for a shot at Roman Reigns.
Roman Reigns hasn’t been involved in a championship match on WWE television since defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMnaia 38. In the process, Reigns claimed Lesnar’s WWE Title to go with his own Universal crown to become Undisputed Universal Champion.
However, with three huge stadium shows coming up on the calendar in quick succession, attention has now turned to who’s next.
Although many expect Drew McIntyre to be stood across the ring from Reigns at Clash at the Castle on September 3rd in Cardiff, his opponents for Money In The Bank (July 2nd) and SummerSlam (July 30th) are very much unknown.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has now attempted to shed some light on the situation. Meltzer notes that Reigns will face Riddle at MITB, Randy Orton at SummerSlam and McIntyre in the United Kingdom.
While Meltzer urges caution over the names, commenting that nothing is etched in stone, he adds that Reigns is scheduled to appear on WWE TV in the run up to all of these events.
The report comes after it was suggested that WWE are planning to turn Roman Reigns into the “new Brock Lesnar.”
“It seems the idea now is to try and make Reigns into a new Lesnar, a guy who beats everyone and is portrayed at a level of his own, while he only works limited dates.”
“We do know that Reigns will be on some PPV shows over the next few months, that he will not be on all PPV shows going forward, that he will be doing Smackdown shows to build up the PPVs he is on, similar to what Brock Lesnar or Bill Goldberg would do, and supposedly his name will be back in the advertising for the shows he will do.”
Reigns was most recently in action at WrestleMania Backlash where he teamed with The Usos to defeat RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre.
