Edge hasn’t been seen in a WWE ring since facing Finn Balor in an I Quit match at WWE Extreme Rules back in October. Though the Rated R Superstar was brutally beaten down in the match, it was only when Rhea Ripley knocked out his wife Beth Phoenix with brass knuckles and threatened her with a con-chair-to that he finally uttered the words “I quit,” granting Balor the victory.
However, despite his concession, Rhea Ripley continued her attack, hitting the con-chair-to on Phoenix and sending the couple off WWE television for the foreseeable future. It was recently reported that Edge has limited dates left on his WWE contract, providing some explanation as to his long absence. However, according to a recent report, the WWE Hall of Famer may be on his way back to the company to get revenge at long last.
Plans Have Been In The Works For Months For Edge And Beth Phoenix To Return To WWE
According to a new report from Fightful Select, plans have been in place as far back as November for Edge to make his return to WWE. The report notes that he’s penciled in for the first couple of premium live events of 2023, indicating that he’s expected to appear at both the Royal Rumble in San Antonio and February’s Elimination Chamber in Montreal.
Fightful also confirmed a report from WrestlingNews.co that plans call for the Rated R Superstar to once again face Finn Balor at the Royal Rumble, continuing the feud between the two and allowing Edge a chance at retribution. Ahead of Survivor Series, it was planned that the two would face off inside Hell in a Cell.
Continuing, the report reveals that Edge isn’t scheduled to appear at the Elimination Chamber premium live event alone. His wife and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix is also expected to compete at event in Montreal, QC in a continuation of their feud with The Judgment Day. Plans call for the husband and wife team to take on both Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley at the event, though it’s also noted that many plans have changed in recent months and nothing is official until announced by WWE itself.
