Backstage Update On Vince McMahon Attending WWE Raw

Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon turned heads by appearing backstage at the March 6th episode of Monday Night Raw, and not just because of his new mustache.

It was reported that the main reason behind McMahon’s visit was so that he could meet up with John Cena, who was making his own return at the show. The appearance from McMahon was especially notable as it was the first time he’s been backstage at a television taping since returning to the company in January.

In recent weeks it has been reported that McMahon has been, and is, more involved than initially believed. It is known that he speaks with Triple H regarding creative and it was claimed that he “had input” in the storyline between Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn.

This was followed by reports that the 77-year-old “pushed through” the WrestleMania match between Brock Lesnar and Omos. While it has been noted that McMahon is not “officially” involved in WrestleMania, he is “doing more than they’re letting on.”

Speaking on Sunday Night’s Main Event, Dave Meltzer has now offered some more insight into the situation. Meltzer explained that he’d been told that WWE “want you to believe” that Triple H remains in charge, adding that “there’s more to it than that.”

“That’s what they want you to believe…Triple H was in charge. But I mean, he has influence on stuff now and Triple H has even said so. You know, they talk about it. Triple H is the one in charge but Vince offers his opinion. And that’s natural.” Meltzer continued, “I talked to somebody there, you know about that, like that night, and it was just like, that’s what they want you to believe. But, you know, Levesque is the one in charge. He was the one giving all the orders and everything like that, but Vince was there and whatever that means long run, you know, we’ll see.

When asked if it was possible that visiting Cena could be the only reason McMahon was there Meltzer replied:

“I’m just kind of told it’s more than that. When I said that’s what they want you to believe, that means that there’s more to it than that.”

Talent Avoided Vince McMahon Backstage

In the days after the show it was reported that some talent backstage deliberately avoided interacting with McMahon. The same report also claimed that one WWE higher-up believed that the appearance was a test to see how talent and staff would react.
