Liv Morgan’s unfortunate injury setback came while being pushed as one of the top superstars in the women’s division, and right after beginning a feud with Nikki Bella, with WWE Evolution II on the horizon. The story is fluid, and new details have emerged on plans for the Women’s Tag Team Championship and Morgan’s return.
The Miracle Kid suffered a dislocated shoulder on this week’s RAW while wrestling Kairi Sane. Morgan has been rumored to miss multiple major events, and Fightful Select has just revealed that her injury had caused immense disappointment among several talents, as the NY native was well-liked and quite popular backstage.
Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan became WWE’s first three-time and four-time Women’s Tag Team Champions this year. The future of the titles has been up in the air due to Morgan’s injury. A recent update revealed that she will require surgery on her shoulder, with one source claiming she was now expected to be on the shelf for six months.
WWE management has officially pulled Liv Morgan from the road, to the extent that today’s Fanatics Fest booking was nixed. PWInsider added that the 31-year-old will not be making any live appearances on television in the near future while recovering.
WWE To Execute Plan For Women’s Tag Team Championship Amid Liv Morgan Absence
Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez have defended just once since dethroning Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria on the RAW After WrestleMania 41. The Women’s Tag Team Champions traveled to NXT the next night to defeat Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley, and now it looks like they may get the chance to defend again.
Sources report that WWE officials have decided on a plan for the creative direction of the Women’s Tag Team Championship while Morgan is injured, according to PWInsider. However, the plan as of this morning involves The Judgment Day keeping the straps as the titles are not expected to be vacated, at least for now.
WWE’s creative writing team was forced to scrap significant storyline plans due to Morgan’s injury, including directions for Evolution. Fightful added that she was heavily factored into multiple creative plans. Regarding the 31-year-old’s return, the report noted that any timetables making the rounds were nothing but estimates at this point.
