Wrestling fans hoping to see Rey Fenix in WWE won’t have to wait much longer.
On March 3rd, news broke that Rey Fenix had been released from his AEW contract after fans noticed that the former Tag Team and International Champion had been removed from the roster page. With Fenix’s tag team partner and brother Penta currently in WWE following his debut at the start of the year, many are expecting to see Fenix in the promotion very soon.
Providing an update on what’s next for Fenix, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select stated that Fenix is expected to go for a WWE medical “very soon”, adding that merchandise has already been brainstormed for the former AEW star. In regards to Fenix signing a contract with the company, Fightful was told “If he hasn’t already signed, it’s coming soon barring unforeseen circumstances.”
Rey Fenix Became Free Agent Following AEW Exit
It was first reported in the summer of 2024 that The Lucha Bros were looking to depart All Elite Wrestling when their contracts expired and were looking to join the rival promotion, bypassing NXT and going straight to the main roster. Following the report, both Penta and Fenix were kept off TV for months.
While Penta was able to leave the promotion when his contract expired at the end of 2024, Fenix saw injury time added onto his deal, leading to the former International Champion seemingly expressing his frustrations on social media.
Penta made his debut on the January 13th episode of Raw and has been regularly featured on the flagship show over the past 2 months.
