The WWE rosters could be shaken up once again very shortly as the 2025 Draft could be set to take place soon.
Given that many storylines conclude at WrestleMania, the company has been known to have top stars switch brands and call-up talent from NXT to create fresh matchups and storylines for the next period of programming in the form of a Draft.
However, while the rosters have undergone changes with the additions of Rusev and Aleister Black, along with the early May WWE releases, there has been no indication that a Draft will take place anytime soon.
Addressing the topic on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez first noted that despite the fact that they have been regularly featured on Raw, Giulia and Roxanne Perez are still listed internally as NXT talents:
“For whatever reason, Giulia and Roxanne are still considered NXT talents. Roxanne has been a regular on the main roster since Royal Rumble; she should be petitioning for main roster back pay. She’s been here so often.”
Discussing the Draft itself, Alvarez noted that the upcoming stint in Tampa, Florida that includes Saturday Night’s Main Event, NXT Battleground, Raw and NXT could be the location of the 2025 Draft:
“But I was told it’s not set in stone, but very likely at the end of this month, when they’re doing that series of dates in Tampa, it’s very likely there might be a draft on that weekend or that week, which would probably mean that some people are being called up.
And by the grace of God, it should be Roxanne and Giulia and, honestly, probably Stephanie [Vaquer] and [Kelani] Jordan, but they can’t call everybody up at once. But there’s a reason that a lot of women were cut in the last couple of weeks, and that is because they are making room on the roster for a lot of other women to get called up.”
It should also be noted that previous drafts have taken place around the same time as the NFL Drafts to capitalise on the popularity. However, due to WrestleMania taking place later in the year, the 2025 NFL Draft took place just 5 days later, meaning that it clashed with the SmackDown after Mania.
WWE Tag Team Seemingly No More
The May 12th episode of Raw focused on the fallout from Backlash while also continuing the build to the Saturday Night’s Main Event special on May 24th. Following the result of one tag team match on Raw, 2 WWE stars have ended their alliance.
