Backstage Update On JBL’s WWE Future

JBL returned to WWE television on the October 17th, 2022 episode of Monday Night Raw.

The WWE Hall of Famer arrived to introduce his new protege Baron Corbin who he proclaimed as the “Modern-Day Wrestling God,” a play on his own moniker from his wrestling career.

The veteran had come to Corbin’s rescue a month earlier on SmackDown picking him up in his signature limo following yet another defeat. Once on the red brand and under JBL’s wing, Corbin briefly flourished but his winning run came to a shuddering halt in November and he hasn’t won since.

On the February 6th episode of Raw, Corbin was in action against Dexter Lumis and yet again failed to score the win, but this time it was one loss too many for JBL.

Backstage after the defeat, JBL scalded Corbin and said he was done with him. He said during his own career he was must-see television, but the former NXT star was channel-changing television. The Hall of Famer went on to add that he had lost all credibility.

Despite the former NXT star pleading with JBL and promising to improve, he was dismissed as the veteran declaring that you “can’t polish a turd,” and he knows because he tried.

Is JBL Done With WWE?

It now appears that this will be JBL’s final appearance on the red brand, at least for the time being. Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that the star is not scheduled to appear on WWE television on a regular basis going forward.

Elsewhere on Raw, Brock Lesnar called out Bobby Lashley via a joke about being unable to forget the All-Mighty even after alone time with his wife, and Lita made a shock return to come to the aid of Becky Lynch.
