Are Triple H and Nick Khan really plotting to try and oust Vince McMahon?
Following the news that there was frustration backstage after Vince McMahon made a number of changes to a recent episode of SmackDown the rumour mill went into overdrive.
This included reports that suggested some backstage were trying to find ways to limit McMahon’s involvement in creative. While the Executive Chairman rarely attends television tapings in person, it’s become commonplace for him to make late changes to shows remotely.
This story then morphed into another rumour that Triple H and Nick Khan were actually set to meet with McMahon to try and limit his involvement. However, it seems this wasn’t quite the case after all.
As reported via Fightful Select it was speculated that the meeting would take place at the Raw 26th episode of Raw, but this didn’t happen. While some within the company heard of the possibility of a meeting, they added that they never heard of it taking place. In addition, talent said that such a meeting would usually take place in the middle of the week and not at a taping.
Fightful notes that as far as they’re aware no such meeting is planned, or has taken place. Even if a meeting did take place, any concerns would only be recommendations, as Khan and The Game can’t force McMahon out.
When Fightful asked a company official about the speculation, they dismissed it as “silly.”
Although it’s important to note that WWE higher-ups previously denied that McMahon was returning to creative.
Vince McMahon Attending SmackDown
This report comes after it was revealed that McMahon is backstage for the July 7th episode of SmackDown.
However, with the show coming live from Madison Square Garden, the ‘World’s Most Famous Arena’ has long been known as WWE’s spiritual home, with McMahon’s father making the venue home base as he established the promotion.
