A new report has cast light on what went wrong in the segment between Karrion Kross and Drew McIntyre on SmackDown and how they salvaged it.
The tension between Karrion Kross and Drew McIntyre was revved up to new heights on Friday Night SmackDown in Salt Lake City, Utah. McIntyre issued a challenge to Kross for Extreme Rules and the two men will meet in a Strap Match.
While McIntyre was issuing his challenge, Scarlett appeared to offer a distraction and allow Kross to attack the Scottish star from behind. A brawl ensued with McIntyre getting the upper hand on the former two-time NXT Champion.
Scarlett sought to protect her husband in the time honoured traditional way in pro wrestling – by throwing a fireball in Drew McIntyre’s face. The flame clearly shot past McIntyre’s face but offered more of a distraction to allow Karrion Kross to ultimately get the upper hand – although Scarlett did also nail McIntyre with a low blow.
Fightful Select has reported more information regarding the spot and what might have gone wrong. The report says the spot with the fireball did not go as planned and that the flash paper used was not ready for live television.
Continuing, the report adds that word somehow got to Kross and McIntyre to keep going and the two stars are said to have improvised the rest of the action. The flash paper was seemingly not acquired by the prop team and was instead brought by those that travelled to SmackDown via the company’s private jet.
