Backstage Report Gives Update On Kenny Omega’s AEW Contract

Kenny Omega in AEW

One of the biggest sources of speculation in AEW in recent months has been Kenny Omega’s contract status.

Earlier in the year it was revealed that WWE was looking to land a major free agent, and shortly after it was noted that Omega’s contract was set to expire in January. However, it has since been confirmed that time has been added to his deal as a result of the many months he missed through injury. Importantly, this wasn’t a new contract.

Despite this, Konnan hinted in a recent interview that Omega had in fact signed a new deal. He also claimed that the star had been speaking to WWE. Konnan became aware of Omega’s negotiations because they prevented him from booking the former AEW World Champion.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has now attempted to clarify the situation. Meltzer noted that Omega hasn’t signed a new contract and his current deal runs out around November/December.

“Konnan did an interview and it got people thinking that Kenny Omega had signed a new contract.

Kenny Omega is under contract to AEW, his contract was extended because he was out for I think nine months due to injuries. I believe that he is under contract until around November/December. There is no new deal that’s been signed.”

Could Kenny Omega Join WWE?

While speculation around Kenny Omega’s future has been running wild, the man himself has remained mostly quiet on the issue. When questioned about the subject in March, the star gave little away but refused to move out one day making the move, although his “spidey senses” haven’t been triggered just yet.
