A new report details WWE‘s reasoning for Rhea Ripley‘s big win on the January 6th episode of Raw.
On the first Monday Night Raw of the Netflix Era, Rhea Ripley faced off against longtime rival Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship. Despite interference from both Raquel Rodriguez and Dominik Mysterio at ringside, Ripley emerged victorious and reclaimed the title she was forced to vacate last April when she was injured at the hands of Morgan.
According to a new report from WrestleVotes on Sportskeeda Backstage Pass, Ripley’s win was a strategic one for WWE as the company looks ahead to WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, NV.
“I think it becomes a numbers thing as we get closer to WrestleMania. You know, two world title matches for the women’s equals probably four participants. They wanted Rhea, obviously, to be one of those.”
Who Will Factor Into WWE WrestleMania 41 Plans Along With Rhea Ripley?
Continuing, WrestleVotes indicated that WWE will also factor Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair into their WrestleMania plans, while Liv Morgan may not find a spot in the main title picture on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
“I think probably Becky and Charlotte’s going to be two and three. And I just don’t think they had a spot for Liv there. So they decided to take the title away from her.”
Recent reports were conflicted about whether or not Becky Lynch was scheduled to return to WWE on January 6th, but she is expected to rejoin the company. Meanwhile, Charlotte Flair is expected to undergo a character change when she returns from injury.
