Backstage Reactions To MJF’s Pipebomb Dynamite Promo

Following his pipebomb from this week’s Dynamite, the fan reaction has been mixed regarding MJF – the reaction appears to be the same in the AEW locker room!

The 1 June broadcast of AEW Dynamite featured a surprising segment involving MJF. Many had presumed that following his loss to Wardlow at Double or Nothing and the way in which he was stretchered out of the T-Mobile Arena that MJF wouldn’t be featured on AEW programming for quite some time.

Instead, ‘The Salt of the Earth’ delivered a polarising promo, with scathing remarks delivered towards Tony Khan. The segment has been praised for its attention to detail; AEW commentary failed to acknowledge it for the remainder of the show and no press photos were issued.

Fightful Select has now come through with a report detailing the reaction within the AEW locker room, with the general consensus being that the incident is now “definitely a work”. One AEW talent they spoke to noted that they’d be “particularly frustrated” if they’d learned of the situation being a work any later.

MJF sent the wrestling world into a frenzy when he no-showed a meet and greet during AEW’s Double or Nothing Fan Fest, with reports stating that he’d booked a flight out of the area. Throughout the day of the pay-per-view, it remained a real possibility that he’d be absent from the card.

Further AEW talent who were in attendance at the meet and greet were forced to stay behind and undertake additional work in lieu of MJF’s no-show. They’d reportedly previously been told by Tony Khan that talent being kept in the dark wasn’t something AEW would do.

It’s important to note that the general possibility of “MJF is always working” was continuously rebutted throughout Fightful’s discussions with AEW representatives.

MJF’s merchandise has since been pulled from ShopAEW and his profile was removed from the official AEW roster page.
