Backstage Reaction To Upcoming Netflix Series WWE: Unreal

Shawn Michaels and Triple H Backstage at a WWE show

A new report has shed some light on how WWE: Unreal is being perceived backstage.

During Night 2 of WrestleMania 41, Michael Cole announced that the new show is set to debut on Netflix in the summer. It promises a never-before-seen look at how the company operates behind the scenes. The synopsis for the show says it will even allow fans a glimpse inside the writer’s room.

“For the first time ever, step into the WWE writer’s room and outside the ring with your favorite WWE Superstars, where the drama is just as intense offstage as it is under the spotlight.”

While many fans are excited by the unheard-of level of access Unreal will provide, some in the company are more sceptical. According to WrestleVotes Radio, there are several veterans and long-time employees who have feelings of resentment and are opposed to the creation of the show. There is concern that it will reveal too much to fans and could even ruin the mystique of storylines, feuds, and the creative process itself.

WWE: Unreal Trailer Shows Original WrestleMania 41 Plans

The concerns may be justified, as WWE: Unreal has already created news. The trailer saw Triple H promise it was time to lift the curtain, and the company quickly did just that. One of the shots showed the writers room which included a whiteboard with tentative plans for WrestleMania 41. Many of the bouts listed didn’t make it to the event, but show the thought process that went into the Road to WrestleMania at the start of 2025.
