WWE fans were quite surprised by a recent announcement regarding comedian Tony Hinchcliffe being a part of WrestleMania weekend.
Following the initial report and the confirmation, many fans took issue with Hinchcliffe being a part of WrestleMania weekend given his previous comments at events. In 2024, the comedian appeared at a Trump rally where he referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage” while also making a number of comments about racial stereotypes.
Although many fans made their opinions clear on the decision to have Hinchcliffe be a part of Mania weekend, those within the company do not share the same objections.
Speaking about the event on a Fightful Select Q and A, Sean Ross Sapp noted that while there were “some eye rolls” to the announcement, the backlash was not the same as was seen online:
“Honestly, there were some eye rolls but most people in WWE just don’t care, to be honest with you. And Tony knows a lot of those people in WWE and they get along with them. I haven’t heard the same outrage internally as I have online,”
It should also be noted that the event will not be televised.
WWE Champion Outlines Goal For WrestleMania
While the top champions already have their matches locked in for the biggest show of the year, many of the mid-card champions will also be hoping to be part of a featured match next month in Las Vegas. In a recent interview, a current WWE Champion outlined their goal for WrestleMania 41.
