Unsurprisingly, Chris Jericho is not phased by the recent reactions from AEW fans. If anything, it is actually the opposite.
Adding another championship to his many accolades at the Dynasty pay-per-view, Jericho defeated Hook to become the new FTW Champion and win the title for the first time in his career. The match and the result were not well received by fans, especially as it looked to be history repeating itself and seeing Hook being the latest star to be in the “Jericho Vortex.”
With fans calling for Jericho to retire and to go home, the crowd let their feelings be known that they were not fans of this decision. However, as many would expect, Jericho does not care what the fans think.
According to a report by Fightful Select, Jericho anticipated a negative reception upon winning the title and sources close to the FTW Champion added that the reaction from the crowd post-Dynasty “played out almost exactly as Jericho had laid it out to them in the week prior.”
Additionally, it is unknown who informed Jericho about the “Jericho Vortex” phrase, which started out as a joke among online fans regarding Jericho’s booking, which has since been incorporated into his character. The report also noted that Jericho’s alterations to the FTW Championship, which is the original title that was used in ECW, were a surprise to multiple individuals, including the inaugural holder of the championship and the man who introduced it into AEW, Taz.
