Backstage Reaction To John Cena Appearing On WWE Raw

John Cena & Austin Theory

John Cena made his most recent return to WWE on the March 6th episode of Monday Night Raw.

On the show at the TD Garden in Boston, Cena was confronted by Austin Theory. The United States Champion claimed that he’d got a gift for Cena, and that gift was a match at WrestleMania 39.

Surprisingly, Cena initially turned the match down claiming that the star hadn’t earned the right to lay down such a challenge. As Cena got into his stride, he verbally broke down Theory, claiming that he lacked heart, fans didn’t believe in him and even suggested WWE piped in crowd noise during his matches as no one cared about him.

Although Theory attempted to fire back, he couldn’t lay a glove on the veteran, and Cena eventually accepted the match at the crowd’s urging. The segment ended with Cena bringing Cody Rhodes out at the top of the ramp and the pair embraced.

Fightful Select has now reported that WWE was happy with how Cena’s return played out, with him “adding some familiar eyes to the show.”

Vince McMahon Causes A Stir While Visiting John Cena

The March 6th episode of Raw was also notable for Vince McMahon appearing backstage at the show. It was believed that he was there to visit John Cena who he had met up with numerous times outside of WWE in recent months.

However, it was McMahon’s physical appearance that caused most of the commotion. The Executive Chairman was sporting dyed hair and a mustache that was likened to that of Gomez Addams from The Addams Family.

In more serious matters it was noted that some talent made an effort to avoid McMahon backstage.
