For months, it was speculated that Chelsea Green was on her way back to WWE after being fired from the company in April of 2021.
Sure enough, at the Royal Rumble premium live event in San Antonio, TX, Green made her way into the Alamodome as a surprise entrant in the women’s Rumble match – but her return was anything but triumphant. The returning star was eliminated in just five seconds, and during a backstage interview, claimed that she was “robbed.” The match was eventually won by Rhea Ripley, who will challenge Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 39.
This began Green’s new presentation as a “Karen” character, often found complaining backstage to WWE authority figure Adam Pearce and threatening to report people to the manager.
Why Was Chelsea Green Absent From WWE Raw On February 20th?
On the February 20th episode of WWE Raw, however, Green was nowhere to be seen. Instead, her voice could be heard on a phone call with Pearce, claiming that she had been sent to Ottawa, IL instead of Ottawa, ON where the broadcast was being held.
A new report from Fightful Select reveals that the angle was filmed in order to cover for the fact that Green is not currently able to travel to Canada. A native Canadian herself, the star is currently waiting for her Green Card, and is landlocked in the United States until she is able to obtain it. According to the report, she has been landlocked for quite some time, dating back to last summer.
Instead of being present at Raw, Fightful Select reports that Green was in New York City on Monday for a screening of The Last Match: A Pro Wrestling Rock Musical. The show stars her husband Matt Cardona, who despite rumors that he could be joining his wife again in WWE, says it’s not his goal to return to the sports entertainment giant.
